The main goal of this site is to show you some of the wonderful Cockatiels we have taken in
and try to help them find homes. We at CRS do work with many local rescues and we work
with all species of birds. However Cockatiels are our passion.
Cockatiels are seriously over bred, resulting in an abundance of them out there. We have
heard them referred to as "throw away birds" because they cost so little and once there is a
problem it is pretty easy to just part ways and start over. Plus, now with so many other small
birds (Conures, Meyers, etc.) that are so easily attainable, people have just forgotten these
great little treasures from God.
Cockatiels bring so much joy to our lives and we would like to share that with you. Anyone
who says "they don't do much" should spend time with our Cockatiels. Almost all our males
talk or whistle. One of our males knows how to dunk skittles into a cup, on command. Our
females are very sweet. Most importantly all can be handled without the fear of anyone
getting bit. Yes, some of the ones we have taken in have issues, but we work very hard too
overcome those with them.
The bird world has changed so much in the past year; this is the first time ever we have not
had a waiting list of people just hoping for a sweet little one to adopt. People want the bigger
birds, wanting something they feel will talk more, do tricks and have been told the bigger
ones are generally better all together. Please don't get us wrong, were not saying bigger
birds are not great; we have a few ourselves. We are just trying to stress you will only get
what you give.
To have a wonderful companion large or small you must really work at it. All birds are
important and deserve the very best. Please if you are having troubles with any size of bird
you own, ask us for help. Our goal is to help people be happy with the birds they have and to
never see another bird turned over to a rescue.
Please feel free to look around, questions are welcome. Thanks so much for stopping by and
for your time.
